This school provides extra activities and sports. They have spelling bees, plays, and concerts for band. If you have a child and need a good school, go to Williams and not Monte Vista or anything in general.
I am very happy with the admistration and the teaching at Sunnyslope. I have found everyone to be quite helpful. I have been here for many years. My children and now the grandchildren attend this school. It is a family-type atmosphere. It is very important to be a part of your child's school. The teachers have an open-door policy. I also enjoy volunteering at the school.
One of my sons goes to Mira Vista, and we have been very happy about his progress. The only drawback is that they don't have other programs like chess, and music (very basic)in which other schools appear to be more organized. Teachers here are seemingly nice and concerned about my child. My child has stated that enviroment is good. Communication with staff is another topic: Principal lacks communication skills, active listening in not on his agenda. After conversing with him in regards to my child, he pacified me on the phone reassuring me that issue would be taking of. Later that day, I found out issue was not addressed in the proper fashion. I went to school at North Park elementary when I was young. My family moved to California in 1986. The teachers and the students were very welcoming and made our adjustment from Canadian living alot easier. I only wish that I would have been able to keep in contact with the friends that I had made.
