I think that this school is great! The teachers are very friendly and are very aware of the needs of their students. They really care about them. Mr.Hoke the principal at the school is wonderful. he does his best to know each and everyone of the five hundred children at the school. The secretaries are wonderful as well. they work very hard to care for the needs of the students of Northern Heights. The cafeteria ladies are very friendly and help all the children get the food that they need. The head cook in the cafeteria really cares about the students and allows them to get by without paying for their lunches longer than maybe she should. the breakfast program at the the school is fabulous. The library is really nice. It is well supplied with all sorts of books for the kids to read. It also has several computers that the students test on. I am very pleased with the safety at the school. they just recently installed a new security camera at the front door of the school. All visitors must be buzzed into the school and then sign in at the office. The support staff for the most part is pretty good. There are a few helpers at the school who are a little less than friendly. they seem to follow the rules a little too strictly when it comes to the lunch room. they rush the children through their lunches and do not allow them to socialize with their friends at lunch. The playground is really nice and the children really enjoy it. The only bad thing about it is the access that outside people have to the playground. The parking lot is way too close to the children when they are playing outside. They are looking into putting a security camera out by the playground too. The teachers at the school are very open with the parents and try to make the parents very aware of any problems that their child might be having at school. The after school program is not run by the school. Our local YMCA runs that. I am not real pleased with what I know about it. They have one person in charge of the 15-20 children in their. And one of the girls they have running it some nights is a very young girl (maybe 18) that is not really capable of handling that many children on her own. And she is on her cell phone most of the time. The classrooms are very nice. They really have everything that the teachers could possible need in there. They are very inviting and warm. The parents group at our school is called P.I.E. which stands for Parents Involved in Education. It is a wonderful group that does a lot for the students and teachers at the school. they hold a few fund raisers throughout the year. They also put on a Santa Land shop, school carnival, book fair, Honor Roll, AR rewards, field day, ice cream day, and so many other things. Overall I think that this is the best school in the county. Maybe even the state. I hope that you will decide to enroll your child at our school. I know that you won't regret it.
