When I started 1st grade I was 5 going on 6; Hispanic little girl that could read and spell in Spanish. But Birdie Fern Cattrell, my teacher, was less than impressed and show a bias against Hispanic kids. I was often clacked on the knuckles with a ruler, pinched by the ear and let to the cloak room and paddled, and sent me to the Principal Krevocapitch, who was a patient and kind person. Ms Cattrell could have broken my desire to get an education but I had perseverence on my side. I am now a Registered Reprsentive with a Financial Broderage company, have a bachelors degree in accounting and finance. I forgive her hardness on us. Rozina Salazar Mortensen
