Overall Kendall-Whittier is an excellent elementary school located withing walking distance to Tulsa University. The staff are friendly and the teachers very associated with the parents about the children's experiences and education. I am happy with the staff. The problem that concerns me greatly is the parking lot. After school is a problem with many parents parking alongside the street. On both sides of Atlanta people park their vehicles leaving barely enough room for a medium sized car to squeeze past. And in both the mornings and afternoons parents screech out of the parking lots or down Atlanta. It has been addressed before but it seems nothing has been done. I believe there should be parking directors along Atlanta in the afternoon. I have seen many times where parents and children alike have almost been run down by someone speeding. I myself have almost been backed into. I have witnessed twice sideswipers. One woman took off and another woman stayed, cursing loudly in the parking lot that it was the other vehicle owner's fault. (It wasn't. The other vehicle had been neatly parked and nobody was even inside.) And today I was driving down Atlanta,(which is a 2-way street), when another parent pulled their truck alongside my car and continued to drive that way, driving directly beside my vehicle in the same direction. Three vehicles had to pull out of the way. So the problem with Kendall-Whittier is not the school itself but the incompetent parents who don't know how to drive and do not take into consideration the safety of school children.
