Ideally there should be safeguards in place before any major problem appears, by adopting a Risk Management strategy covering areas such as:
Data Security - Protection of sensitive data\ information by using Computer Access Levels and Permissions, i.e. a username for each individual user makes it easier to audit activity.
Audits - enables you to check stock\documents held by the company and employees, either physically (components, stationery), in paper form and on their computers.
Physical Security - making sure premises (buildings, land) have safety precautions and safety plans in place.
Contingency Plans - have a set of contingency\emergency plans. Instructions should include what to do in case of emergencies such as fire, theft and disaster events (Business Continuity and Recovery Plan).
3. Describe three different ways of maintaining a safe and secure business environment.
Personal conduct: not wearing dangerous clothing/jewellery, not being under the influence of alcohol/drugs, not turning up for work tired
Awareness and observation: noticing what happens in your working environment, being aware of potential hazards
Prompt reporting: taking time to find out where responsibilities lie, and making sure the appropriate person is aware if something has potential to cause harm – never assume an
