The novel ‘of mice and men’ was written buy john Steinbeck in 1937.Its about two migrant workers who move from place to place in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in California, United States. These were the time when America was poor and had no money. The banks were all shut down and people became homeless, people struggled, there were beggars everywhere, they would walk miles and miles to look for job that they can settle to work and earn money for the family. Women joined the work force and would do jobs that men previously had held. These women worked as hard as they could to support their families during this difficult time. Meanwhile, in act 1 scene 5, lady Macbeth was also presented as hope blocking, “never shall that sun morrow see” here we see that lady Macbeth is willing and determined to kill king Duncan. “Sun” associates with happiness and peacefulness. However we see that Lady Macbeth doesn’t want King Duncan to see the next day Jacobean audience would be shocked because women have to be completely against violence of any sort.

Curly’s wife is not happy on the ranch ,all she really wants is some attention .since she is the only women on the ranch everyone looks her .Curley's wife knows her beauty is her power, and she uses it to flirt with workers at the ranch and make her husband jealous. She is utterly alone on the ranch” Think I like to stick in that house alla time?”Here we see that curly’s wife is really bored since she is the only women at the ranch see doesn’t have anyone to talk to, this makes her seem very lonely.
Curley's wife spends all her time wandering around the farm, giving people "the eye". As a result, this gives her the impression that she is looking for something more than just her husband Curley.
