It is important to keep track of sensitive items and documents for many reasons that could hinder you and/ or your comrades. I myself left my Military Identification Card behind during a weight and tape test. But many other things can be left behind and compromise your security, operations, life, or the lives of others. To lose a sensitive item can also be a violation of the army values. It violates the values of Duty and Integrity. It violates duty because without the proper equipment you cannot perform your duties. You also let down your platoon and/ or squad by not knowing where your items are. It violates the integrity of yourself by letting your platoon down. Your platoon counts on you to make sure you know where all your items …show more content…

In times of war losing a sensitive item such as a loaded mbitr radio or an SKL you have just given your enemy the ability to intercept all secure radio transmissions between any two operators in your area if the enemy knows your location or plans then you have just put all the troops in your area on your frequency, in danger of a surprise attack. Could you live with the knowledge that you are responsible for the death of your team, squad, platoon, unit, or your own battle buddy or best friend? Or even in the Garrison aspect a random truck driver going down the highway could encounter a radio and hook it up straight to his Semi and have the access to listen in on what is going on throughout the base. Losing a radio is a bad day all in itself, it can hinder the lives of many young men and women that already put their lives on the line to protect the freedom of the United States by giving the enemy valuable information to plan an attack or over run one of our areas of
