There are distinct differences within the Norman and Malla article with regard to both structure and detail when compared to the guideline illustrated in Burton. Q5 Identify whether the authors followed APA guidelines for report writing in respect of the Results section. Do you think this section conveys the findings clearly? Justify your answer. If not, make two ‘specific’ suggestions to improve this part of the article.
Norman and Malla did not follow APA guideline in the Results Section.
• Incorrectly formatted according to APA guidlines; Title ‘Results’ should be centred.
• Norman and Malla combined both the Results and the Discussion. This does not allow for clarity of the results or discussion individually. The Result and Discussion sections are the main details of the findings and I would suggest they be given equal prominence within the article.
• Subsequently from separating the Results and Discussion sections. The Discussion section could focus a little more on how the results lead back to the hypothesis. The Discussion should be in present tense and allow all aspects of the research to be pulled apart and discuss how it all relates together, and consider whether it supports.
