Each individual has the right to be treated with respect , dignity and compassion .They have the right to choose , and the right to refuse .If an individual refuses to get washed it is their right to refuse .Such happening will be documented .Letting them choose whether they want a shower or a bath , porridge or weetibix , TV or radio etc. It is good practice as you are allowing them to choose and giving them control of the situation .Not working in this way can cause the individual emotional and psychological harm to the individual and it could cause a detrimental effect on the reputation of the company or organisation employing you .It could lead to disciplinary action or dismissal.
An agreed way of working could be to protect the service users confidentiality .Care workers must keep information given to them confidential l.It is the responsibility of the care worker to handle information appropriately ,this applies to all information whether it is an opinion given verbally , social information financial or medical records . When any agreement is broken the trust between the service user and carer is lost and it could lead to disciplinary action.
It is in the best interest of the individual and the company / organisation to work taking all the key
