What happens to a person when they get so depressed that they are on the verge of suicide? Well the only answer would be to commit it but what if that person can't find the guts to go through it alone. Well then they ask for assistance. This is called assisted suicide. Assisted suicide or in other words euthanasia is the killing by an act of an independent human being for their own benefit. There are many kinds of definitions that one must argue the fact of, what is euthanasia. Well you would have to keep reading farther on. The only thing that the law is against is the act of committing it in a messy way. Along with doing this people must understand that they can only commit suicide if the act, in no way is messy,
painful, or a danger to others, or all three. But in my defense I think that if a person wants to kill their selves, you shouldn’t limit their options on what they can do. The simple methods are fine as long as you do it alone. If doctors, family, friends or any other kind of influence have anything to say to the fact that they just can’t control what someone thinks. In some cases some people who are in a hospital and wants to have their life support shut off then that should be their decision. It should not be a family member or a friend’s option to tell the doctor, whether or not to take a life. In one court case called Cruzan vs. Director, a woman was in a coma for seven years. In my mind I would not want to suffer like that. The Missouri Supreme Court ruled against removing the feeding tubes keeping the woman alive. They said they couldn’t remove them without clear and convincing evidence. The Second Circuit found that there were no state interest to support the difference in treating terminally ill patients and the people who actually want to kill themselves.
The government thinks that they own our lives just because they can make laws against it. I think that the government shouldn’t have a say in the matter of someone wanting to kill themselves. The
