1. INTRODUCTION

Supply chain performance has never been as important as it is today. In a global economy where supply chains, and not companies, battle one another, how a supply chain performs determines who will win the battle. To achieve maximum benefit from a supply chain, a supply chain must be performing at its best or anything it has gained will be short-lived. Yet, many companies are not aware of how their supply chains are performing or even what supply chain they are in.

These are usually small scale farmers and small canoe/boat fishers who produce in anticipation of demand. Their output fluctuates significantly according to seasons and other natural factors.

5.1.2 Wholesaler Foodstuff Sellers/fishmongers
Coolland buys from main wholesale foodstuff sellers and fish mongers who themselves buy directly from small holder farmers and fishers from various farming and fishing communities and consolidate them. Once a crop is harvested, or fish are delivered to the dock, these wholesale intermediaries buy and prepare the product either on-site or at a packing facility ready for delivery to restaurants like Coolland.

The intermediaries normally washes, grades and packs the product before shipment to coolland. In some cases, washing, grading and/or some packing is done by producers/farmers who, in turn, sell the product to wholesalers.
