1. Construct a project charter to revamp the compensation and benefits package.
Since recently being appointed head of human resources and now in charge of managing a small team; I have a huge task ahead of myself. After breaking up the teams to each work on one side of the project, I would have to have two team members from human resources working on the pay scales, two team members working on how to establish a merit increase system, two team members working on checking into whether or not we should downsize; how we could use that extra decrease in assisting the company so they would not have to pay out, two team members working on researching information about insurance for the company to possibly decrease the cost that each employee would have to pay out of pocket, as well as, the company not paying so much, two team members working on paid time off (PTO), 401(k) etc., two team members working on tuition reimbursement for our employees.
3. Define the scope of the project.
The scope of the project is to develop a detailed description of the project. The scope of the project for revamping the compensation and benefits package within the organization is to first list the deliverables which could include each employee’s salary and comparing their salaries to other salaries in the same industry to arrive at a median and basing it upon the skills and experience, as well as education for that particular department. Second, set boundaries in each department by setting a minimum and maximum scale of pay within each department by determining the merit rate increases the company has set, which is a percentage
